Who
doesn’t want to be a film? Hands up… See,
no-one. So imagine my glee when an A4 size manila envelope
containing a film script found itself in my very tight,
sweaty grip. My feverish elation wasn’t to be
halted there, no way, because one of the main characters
was written just for me… that’s right, the
“Jug-eared Buffoon” role was clearly overdue
and had made a welcome appearance. Imagine my dismay
when the role was in fact a sharp suited, smooth talking
ladies man… Time for some method acting methinks.
Having already “starred” in Paul’s
academy award winning short Mightier, I knew
what to expect from him; Focus, confidence, vision,
respect, wild hair, scruffy coat and crap trainers…
You get the idea, but I had never met the other actors
– one of whom was to be my screen best friend.
Those of you who’ve seen the trailer or known
Phil will know that to be a friend with him requires
no acting or pretence as he was the most humble, funny
and warm guy I have met and made the experience an absolute
pleasure. He was also crap at remembering lines, clumsy
with props and nervous in front of the girls, so I felt
like Alec Guiness in comparison.
Another ambition of mine is to write a screenplay that
will change the face of cinema forever. When I saw Paul’s Paradox script I changed my goal; to write a screenplay
that’s half as good as Paradox as it’s
a work of ruddy genius. What’s more, to see the
script being realised and the day to day production,
research and preparation from Paul, Paul and Scott was
awe inspiring. The time patience and dedication from
these fellows I found humbling and they deserve all
they reap from this film.
I’d like to thank the guys and girls for making
a 3 hour train journey a worthwhile experience. Special
thanks to Paul for his inspiration and Phil for the
experience. I sincerely look forward to being cast as The Myth. I thank you.
Stuart age 27 2/3.
