BOY, A GIRL AND SOME WIRES |
It’s
always a very exciting moment when PT hands me a pair
of headphones and says “listen to this.” I
feel honoured to be one of the first people to hear a
lot of what comes out of PT’s brain and ends up
as musical magic. Sometimes it is to accompany something
crazy that has come out of my head, and sometimes it’s
Cellarscape.
Cellarscape is PT’s musical outlet which has so
far produced two EP’s and an album. I hear them
all, from rough strumming on an acoustic all the way through
to fully mixed song, and witnessing creativity in progress
is always exciting and fascinating. On hearing the first
Cellarscape album, Animation, Suspension in full
I was waiting for those two magic words – MUSIC
VIDEO!
You Got The Girl was the first single off the
album and PT wanted a video to accompany the multimedia
pre-release blitz he was planning for the album. So we
both sat down on PT’s leather sofa with some strong
coffee and a notepad and outlined the story for You
Got The Girl.
PT and I are huge fans of narrative music videos and big
haters of band in a room snorfests. Windowlicker
by Aphex Twins, Everlong by Foo Fighters, Buddy
Holly by Weezer are all great videos and directed by great
directors – Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry and
Spike Jonze respectively. |
